Kansas Department of Transportation's KanDrive Map shows that most of the highways in the area are mostly clear or still partially snow covered as of midnight on Thursday. Some gravel roads have been cleared while others remain snow packed.

All three school disricts and the STARS (Southeastern Technical Academy for Rural Students) remained closed for a third day as brutally cold temperatures grip the area and some bus routes remain snowbound or icy.

The area remains under a cold weather advisory by the National Weather Service. The expected low on Thursday morning, Feb. 20, is –11. It will be sunny on Thursday with a high of 14 expected. The temperature will dip on Friday morning to –3.

Road crews and city workers made headway on snow removal on Wednesday, however, many of the paved roads except U.S. Highway 69 still have patches that are partially snow covered.

Highs in the mid-20s on Friday and in the mid-30s on Saturday are expected to accelerate melting.
