The 2024 East Central District Dairy Cattle Career Development Event was held at the Linn County Fairgrounds on Nov. 6. Twenty teams and more than 200 individuals participated in this year’s Career Development Event designed to provide students an opportunity to display their knowledge and skills in the area of dairy cattle selection and management.
Prairie View FFA won first place in the senior division, and team members included Bella Stolle, Colby Troxel, Kally Stroup, Laramie Stevens, Kadence Shelton and Timber Browning.
Prairie View FFA also won first place in the intermediate division with the team of Kinley Stone, Brody Wilcox, Kelsee Haupt, Kennison Gochenour, Kirbie Stroup, and Harley Wade.
Other members that attended include Brogan Beattie.
Bella Stolle won first place, Colby Troxel won second, and Kally Stroup won eighth in the senior division. In the intermediate division Kinley Stone won fifth place, Brody Wilcox won ninth, and Kelsee Haupt won 10th.

The East Central District Entomology Career Development Event was also held the same day at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Mound City.
Prairie View FFA took home fifth place as a team in the senior division, and team members included Rebecca Miller, Alina Valez, Madison Stahl and Avarie Hightower. Fifteen teams competed with more than 150 students across all entomology events. Rebecca Miller took home a fifth place medal as an individual.
Prairie View FFA students’ agriculture education instructor and FFA advisor is Melisa Bertz. She helped team members study and gave feedback when needed. She also was in charge of putting on the Entomology Career Development Event. The East Central District Dairy Cattle and Entomology Career Development Events were made possible with support from the Jayhawk-Linn FFA and their student helpers.
