Updated: 14 hours ago

PLEASANTON – Just a couple more days to sign up for the Angel Tree project in Pleasanton.

If you know a Pleasanton child up to 18 years old in Pleasanton that needs help this Christmas, please have the parent or guardian return the form below to City Hall by Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Forms are also available at Pleasanton City Hall, 1608 Laurel Street. All information will be kept confidential.

As of Friday, Nov. 22, applications had been returned for 22 children. However, more applications have been picked up but not returned.

On Nov. 13, the city announced that it had received a Spark grant from Walmart for $2,000 to help with the Angel Tree program

Anyone who would like to make a cash donation to Angel Tree can drop off donations at Pleasanton City Hall or the Labette Bank - Angel Tree Account.

Package pickup for children who are being helped by the program will be on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

For more information, contact City Hall at 913-352-8257.

In other Christmas-related news:

• Pleasanton City Hall is the site of a mail collection box for children who want their letters to go directly to the Jolly Old Elf himself.

Parents should make sure that a return address is on the letter so that Santa will be able send a letter back to the sender. Letters need to be in the box by Thursday, Dec. 19, to get a response from the North Pole.

• Finally, collections are being taken for a Pound Puppy Tree. A Christmas tree will be decorated with donations for toys, treats and small blankets to be used for pups in the city’s animal shelter.

The tree will be on display at the Pleasanton Community Center, 819 Main Street during the Christmas parade and other activities on Dec. 14 or on family movie day on Dec. 15.

You can leave items at City Hall or bring them and help decorate the tree on Dec. 14th and 15th.
