Pastor John T. Kellum, age 56, of Prescott, Kansas, passed away on August 14, 2024, in Decatur, Texas. He was born on July 26, 1968, to Robert Kellum and Theresa Alldaffer in Kansas City, Kansas. John married Rebecca Stevicks on July 2, 1991, in Osage City, Kansas.
John has been the Pastor of Prescott Baptist Church for the last twenty-two years. Although a Pastor, he has done various tasks during his ministry years. In addition to being a Pastor, he was also a bus driver, a youth pastor, and an associate pastor. John loved being a pastor and was always helping lead others to Christ. He also worked at Value Merchandise for fourteen plus years in various departments of the company. John was very fond of collecting eagles and ships, and he loved to fish.
Anyone who knew John also knew he was an avid sports fan. Although he loved all types of sports, he never missed watching the Kansas City Chiefs. In addition, he loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Theresa, and a sister, Rebecca Hartman. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of thirty-three years; a son, John Kellum Jr. and wife, Rachel of Alvord, Texas; three daughters, Sara Black and husband, Kevin of Fort Scott, Kansas, Tiffany Kellum of Cabot, Arkansas, and Grace Kellum of Prescott, Kansas; as well as his seven grandchildren who were the light of his life, Nathan, Isaiah, Rebecca and Abigail Black, and Maddalynn, Mckenna and Titus Kellum. He is also survived by a brother, Gary Kellum, and a sister, Patty Mastel and husband, Mike, and a great host of friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Schneider Funeral Home, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Schneider Funeral Home, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial will be in the Prescott Cemetery.
