Buckle up for another round of the polar express.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the period of Monday night through Wednesday morning that will include possible heavy snow with accumulations between 6 and 14 inches over the region that includes counties in east-central Kansas and several counties across the state line.
The NWS has also issued a cold weather advisory for Tuesday night through Wednesday.
That storm is also expected to bring brutally cold temperatures with the midday highs on Tuesday and Wednesday expected to barely break single digits with morning lows falling to as low as minus 11 degrees F.
When will it warm up again? The long-range forecast calls for mostly sunny skies on Friday with a high of 21, and another day of sunshine on Saturday with highs in the mid-30s.
Take extra precautions if you must travel over the next couple of days, and be sure to wear layers to keep yourself warm. And provide adequate warmth for pets during this period.
The Linn County Journal will keep you updated on current weather and road conditions and closings throughout the week.
