TOPEKA – In a unanimous vote, the board of directors of the Kansas Press Association (KPA) has accepted the Linn County Journal to be a member of that organization. KPA membership for the Journal began in October.

“We are very proud of our acceptance into that esteemed professional organization,” Journal publisher Roger Sims said. “The value of that membership became apparent when we began working for the newspapers published by the former Miami County Publishing Co. almost 25 years ago.”

The Journal began publishing an online “newspaper” in June 2021 and began producing a magazine-style print publication in January 2022.

“We don’t fit very neatly into either print or online category, but KPA Director Emily Bradbury indicated that traditional publications have given way to less traditional news formats,” Sims said.

“We believe the KPA board recognized the important work the staff of the Journal has been doing in covering county and local issues. We look forward to working with that organization and improving our coverage of Linn County.
