The La Cygne Library, the La Cygne Historical Society, the city of La Cygne and the La Cygne Chamber of Commerce will be teaming together again this year to present Christmas on Broadway beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.
The activities beginning at 3 p.m. include a visit from Santa in the Swan Room of the library, face-painting, Quick Pic Caricatures, and the first 200 kids will get to make a “Twinkle Teddy” bear. The Great Room on the other side of the library will host Christmas music and a Christmas raffle sponsored by the Friends of the Library organization. Also the Prairie View Educational Foundation will be serving walking tacos as a free will fundraiser.
Making teddy bears has been a popular activity at the La Cygne Library during the annual Christmas on Broadway celebration. It will be back - with a twist - this year. (Journal file photo)
Across the street at the La Cygne Museum, hot cider and a bake sale will take place, and First Option Bank will be serving cookies with Peoples Telecommunications serving hot cocoa. Meanwhile on Broadway the Christmas train will be giving rides for kids of all ages.
At 5 p.m. line-up begins for the Christmas Frozen Parade of Lights, which is scheduled to roll down Broadway beginning at 5:30 p.m. But before the parade begins, Mayor Deb Wilson will flip the switch to turn on the lights on the Mayor’s Christmas Tree at Thayer Park.
The La Cygne Chamber of Commerce is seeking entries for the parade as well as a couple more judges. There is no cost to enter and the top three entries will receive a prize. For more information, call 913-755-1251 or 913-787-2135.
