MOUND CITY – Kally Stroup of rural Parker was crowned 2024 Linn County Fair and Rodeo queen on Saturday, Aug. 3, during a ceremony at the fairgrounds arena.

Wade Teagarden, fair board member who is in charge of the queen contestants, told the crowd gathered for the demolition derby that this year’s contestants raised a total of just over $45,500, the second highest sales in the fair’s history.

The queen is selected on the basis of advance ticket sales, and Stroup sold almost $21,300 in tickets to the three events and the raffles for four rifles. The events include the demolition derby, the Outlaw Truck and Tractor pull, and the two evenings of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) rodeo.

Candidates earn a portion of their ticket sales.

Stroup and other queen candidates will be helping with contests throughout fair week, which ends Saturday night, Aug. 10, with the rodeo.
