La Cygne, Kansas

 Gloria Jean Long, age 77, La Cygne, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025. She was born on August 13, 1947, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Melvin and Maxine Hanthorne Camden.


She graduated from Drexel High School. Gloria was united in marriage to David Long on May 21, 1966. She retired as an office manager for Farm Bureau Insurance. She was a member of the New Lancaster United Methodist Church.


Gloria enjoyed creating artwork, crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them.


She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Christine; an infant daughter, Patricia; and a sister, Judy Camden. Gloria is survived by her husband, David; a son, Jeffrey Long (Marianne); a daughter, Jennifer Plummer (Robert); two sisters, Ruth Becker (Robert), and Melodie Strausbaugh; and five grandchildren, Katrina, McKendra, and Kameron Long, and Decovin and Camden Plummer. 


A memorial service for Gloria will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Schneider Funeral Home and Cremations, La Cygne Chapel.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the chapel.  Burial will be in New Lancaster Cemetery.  The family suggests contributions to New Lancaster United Methodist Church or Ronald McDonald House in care of Schneider Funeral Home, PO Box 304, La Cygne, KS 66040.  Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
