Gary John Hald, age 77, of the Sugar Valley Lakes Community near Mound City, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 19, 1946.
He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Sugar Creek Packing before retirement.
He was united in marriage to Deanna Russell in 1992. Gary was a member of the American Legion in Mound City and the VFW in Girard, Kansas. He enjoyed fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grand and great grandkids, being their "Poppy".
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Jack Hald. Gary is survived by his wife Deanna; two sons, Dominic Lomshek and wife Janie, and Bobby Hald; three daughters, Anissa Casey and husband Jason, Danika Hagerty and husband Mike, and Natalia Lippold and husband Terry; a brother, Errol Hald; a sister, Sherry Bitner, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will 12 noon, Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in Fort Scott National Cemetery.
