Current fire and ambulance reports

MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commissioners heard reports from the ambulance and fire department services on Tuesday, Feb. 18.


Fire Chief Randy Hegwald’s report showed that there had been seven calls for the past week. Four were rescue and emergency medical service incidents, two were fires and one was a service call. 


Hegwald asked that the commissioners allow him to hire Ben Williams as a shadow firefighter at the Pleasanton station. Hegwald said that Williams would bring the fire department’s shadow program up to three students, two at Pleasanton and one at Mound City. 


Upcoming programs put on by the fire department and emergency management are:


Weather talk by Fox 4, Jacob Lanier on Feb. 24 at the community building in Pleasanton beginning at 6 p.m. Lanier will talk about storms and what to look for.


The Centerville station will be hosting a chili feed March 1 at 6 p.m. for a free-will donation. They are doing this to raise funds to help buy coolers for their trucks to keep their water cool and stuff.


American Medical Response (AMR) Operations Manager Dawn Brook sent in the month to date ambulance reports from Feb. 1 through Feb. 16. There have been a total of 53 calls resulting in 32 transports. The average response time is 12 minutes 23 seconds. The calls by city were:

• Blue Mound, 6 calls, 2 transports

• Centerville, 3 calls, 0 transports

• Greeley, 0 calls, 0 transports

• La Cygne, 10 calls, 4 transports 

• Fontana, 0 calls, 0 transports

• Lane, 0 calls, 0 transports

` • Linn Valley, 2 calls, 1 transport

• Rich Hill, 0 calls, 0 transports

• Mound City, 13 calls, 9 transports

• Parker, 2 calls, 1 transport 

• Pleasanton, 14 calls, 12 transports

• Prescott, 3 calls, 3 transports


Response numbers and times for this time period by commission districts are:


District 1 - 13 responses, 5 transports, 9 minutes 30 seconds average response time

District 2 - 21 responses, 16 transports, 11 minutes 5 seconds average response time

District 3 - 19 responses, 11 transports, 15 minutes 48 seconds, average response time
