MOUND CITY – Linn County Clerk David Lamb notified the public last year before the August primary that he likely would not fulfill the full four-year term in office if elected. The Mound City Republican notified the Linn County Republican Central Committee that he would resign effective the end of January after he was re-elected to the office in November.
On Monday, Jan. 13, within hours of taking the oath of office with a group of newly elected officials during the opening moment of the regular county commission meeting, he made good on that promise by issuing a resignation letter to Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly.
“I would like to thank the citizens of Linn County for their support during my 20 years as Linn County Clerk and for the 9 years working in the County Clerk's office for the previous County Clerk,” Lamb said in his letter to the governor. “I have enjoyed my time serving the citizens of Linn County, but I have accepted a new position with KCAMP beginning February 3, 2025.”
Kansas County Association Multiline Pool (KCAMP) is a self-funded insurance pool for many local governments in the state, including Linn County.
Lamb has also been a fixture as a first-responder for the county with 31 years of service on the Linn County Rural Fire Department, including 20 years of that time with emergency medical service certification. He also served on the Mound City Council and was mayor of Mound City for four years.
The county’s Republican Central Committee is expected to hold a convention shortly to decide on a replacement, and that nomination will go to the governor for confirmation.
A reception in Lamb’s honor is set for Friday, Jan. 31, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the courthouse annex commission room at 300 Main in Mound City. The public is invited to attend.
