MOUND CITY – In a statement released on Sunday, Dec. 1, Linn County Clerk David Lamb announced that he would be leaving his post at the end of January. Lamb was re-elected as county clerk in November, however, he announced before the election that he only wanted to remain as clerk until he could train someone to take over his post.

A Republican, Lamb was the only candidate on the ballot, and although there were some write-in ballots, he received the lion’s share of the vote at nearly 100%.

“I would like to thank the citizens of Linn County for all their support during my 20 years as County Clerk and the nine years I worked in the County Clerk’s office before becoming Clerk,” Lamb wrote in the release. “I have worked in public service for most of my adult life.

“Besides my time in the County Clerk’s office, I served for 31 years on the Linn County Rural Fire Department, 20 years of that time with EMS certification, four years on the Mound City Council, and four years as the mayor of Mound City. But I have decided it is time for me to move on to a new job.”

He said he has accepted a part-time position as a member services representative with the Kansas County Association Multiline Pool (KCAMP) effective Feb. 3, 2025. KCAMP is a self-funded insurance pool for many local governments in the state, including Linn County.

“I will submit my formal resignation to the Governor and to the Linn County Republican Central Committee in mid-January, with an effective date of January 31, 2025,” he said. “Even though this will be a substantial change for me, I will still be working with counties and cities around the state, and it will give me more time to spend with my family.

“I have enjoyed my time serving the County and again, thanks to everyone that has supported me and thanks to all my coworkers in Linn County.”

He is expected to be sworn in for another term early in January before ending his tenure at the end of the month. The county’s Republican Central Committee will decide on a replacement, and that nomination will go to Gov. Laura Kelly for confirmation.
