Charles Patrick "Pat" Gaines

Obituary
August 17, 1969 - January 28, 2025

Charles Patrick Gaines (Pat) of Lane Ks, passed away while sleeping in his home on January 28th, 2025.Pat was born in St. Louis Mo., August 17th, 1969. (the last day of Woodstock). Pat lived in St Louis with his mother for 6 years then moved to Parker, Ks, with his aunt and uncle, Richard and Janice Patrick. From there Pat attended Parker Elementary then he went to Prairie View High school where he graduated in 1988.

He cooked in the family restaurant, "Pat's Place” until it closed. At this point Pat had fun and enjoyed life. Somewhere in those years he met his future wife, unbeknownst to either of them. Pat then took his love of working on cars and made a living of it. Pat became ASC certified along with a few other certifications.

Pat married Amanda Graves-Gaines on November 2, 2020, although they had been together since January 1997. Pat worked for Johnson County Management as a maintenance man for 16 years. It wasn't until leaving that job that he found something he truly brought him happiness. That was working at Prairie View School district as a Custodian. He enjoyed working around the students and felt as if he truly mattered. Pat's job there was short lived unfortunately due to his health issues.

After he resigned from the school he stayed home and fiddled around in his shop. Pat loved fixing things or working on whatever project he had going on at the time. He enjoyed spreading his knowledge to others. When he wasn't in his shop, he was spending time with the ones he loved the most.

Pat is proceeded in his death by his parents Rich and Jan Patrick, his brother Derrick, & his son-in-law Edward Gulley along with his little buddy D.O.G. with many other people he had loved.

He leaves behind a loving wife of 28 years, Amanda Graves-Gaines. They had 2 beautiful daughters, Jillianne Gaines (26), and Abigail Gaines (24). They gifted him with 5 grandchildren, Peighton 5, Parker 4, Oliver 2, Lillianne 10 mo., and Phinleigh 3 mo. They brought out the best in him. Pat also leaves behind many friends who he called family and brother. He leaves behind a sidekick, Bear, who became part of the family and who, won Pat over back in 2017, and his girl, Bonnie, who he rescued the same year. Life will never be the same without him, but we are so grateful and blessed to have had him be such a big part of our lives.

Memorials are to the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home to help with services.
